HORSES
Horses is an outdoor participatory dance inspired by the radical justice tale of Michael Kohlhaas, a medieval horse dealer. Set in public spaces, this pop-up spectacle blends medieval fair, performance art, and protest in motion, reconnecting dance with everyday public life.
We will be performing Horses in Queens Park and Garnethill Park in June and August. Performances are taking place as part of the Commonwealth Games Festival, Tramway Beyond Walls and the Govanhill International Festival and Carnival programme.
COMMUNITY CAST - WORKSHOPS AND PERFORMANCES
We’re looking for people of all ages and abilities to join the community cast of Horses. Part medieval fair, part performance art, part protest-in-motion — Horses brings together dance, improvisation, storytelling, and games to tell the radical justice tale of Michael Kolhaas.
As a member of the community cast you’ll join a company of dancers to create your own pop-up dance performance in the heart of Glasgow. You don’t need any previous movement experience, just a willingness to be open and creative, with an enthusiasm to take part.
To be part of the community cast for this performance, we invite you to join us at our “Chaos and Games” Workshop and a rehearsal before the performance. At the workshop you’ll meet the dancers, do some movement, and play some games. You’ll also get more details about the rehearsals and the performance itself. More information below.
Both the workshop and the performance will be a welcoming, accepting space for all to feel safe, and be given permission to dance and explore creative movement.
