My Heart is a Hospital
… who is to say that the love we feel for our parents, or siblings, or best friends, or favourite tv characters or teddies, isn’t as real and potent and intense and all consuming as romantic or adult love…
or that we have to reach a certain age to have truly lived..?
that the finish line is something in the distance that we are all desperately trying to reach with everything still intact…
My Heart Is A Hospital is a cabaret for young in-patients about childhood illness, wellness, and the concept of “better”. Partly autobiographical; partly based on what children in hospitals want to see; and partly a fantastic celebration of life, My Heart Is A Hospital aims to burst the balloon of normality and explode the myth that a healthy body looks a certain way.
My Heart is a Hospital is a collaboration between Claire Willoughby and Eszter Marsalko, and has previously been developed with support from Kit Green, an artist working across theatre, music, experiential performance, comedy and cabaret.
My Heart Is A Hospital will be developed further in 2027.
